How to Introduce Salmon to Toddlers
We often get asked how to introduce sustainable salmon to toddlers. Our Kvaroy salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for brain development, cognitive function, and healthy growth.
And here are several ways to help your little one develop taste for it:
Start with small portions: Offer a small piece of cooked salmon to your toddler, and let them try it. Gradually increase the portion size as they become more comfortable with the taste.
Pair it with foods that are already familiar: Mix small pieces of cooked salmon with foods that your toddler already likes, such as mashed potatoes, pasta, or cooked veggies.
Experiment with different ways of cooking: You can try to cook salmon in different ways, such as grilling, baking, or steaming. Our experience shows that some toddlers may prefer one preparation over another.
Be patient: Introducing new foods can take time, so be patient with your toddler. It may take several attempts before they are willing to try salmon or before it’s clear which way of preparation they prefer.
Make it fun: You can make mealtime more fun by making fish-shaped pancakes or sandwiches with salmon and cheese.
