Fun Ways to Celebrate Earth Hour With Kids

Every year, the Earth Hour initiative invites people all around the world to turn off their lights for one hour in order to express their support for our planet. This year, Earth Hour will take place on March 26th at 8:30 pm your local time. We love this event as it is a great, collective way for everyone to come together and make a positive impact on our environment.

If you want to celebrate Earth Hour with your family, here are some tips on how to do it:

  1. Turn off other appliances: In addition to turning off the lights, you can also turn off other appliances in your house, such as your TV, computer, and phone. This will help to reduce energy consumption even further.

  2. Have a sustainable candlelit dinner: If you want to make Earth Hour more special, you can have a candlelit dinner with your family. As the focus of the event is to be learning more about living in harmony with nature, we encourage you to think about the foods you put on your table. Enjoy foods created with the environment in mind and with a low carbon footprint such as our sustainable salmon filets or salmon hot dogs that you can find at the seafood section at Whole Foods Market. Lower your food waste, eat seasonally, and learn about other ways to be more eco-conscious in your grocery shopping and daily lifestyle.

  3. Outdoor bonfire gathering: Grab Kvaroy's salmon hot dogs from Whole Foods Market and host a bonfire party in your yard with friends. P.s. Be mindful of the bonfire and learn how to take care of it!

  4. Play board games: Instead of watching TV or using electronic devices, you can spend time with your family by playing board games. This is a fun way to bond with your family and reduce energy consumption.

  5. Go stargazing: If it’s a clear night, you can go outside and look at the stars. This is a great way to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of our planet.

  6. Take a walk: You can also take a walk outside during Earth Hour. This is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the beauty of the night sky.

  7. Host an acoustic music party with guitar, violin, harmonica, or any non-electrical instrument and enjoy the time with your friends.

  8. Have a yoga and meditation session for the whole family. It’s a peaceful way to relax at the end of the day and to remove the stress and anxieties of the day.

Remember, Earth Hour is just one hour, but you can make a positive impact on our planet every day. By making small changes in your daily life, such as turning off lights and other appliances when you’re not using them as well as educating yourself on other sustainable habits, you can help to reduce energy consumption and protect the environment. So, let’s celebrate Earth Hour together and make a positive impact on our planet!
